Knob-billed Duck female - Sarkidiornis melanotos

  5. Handsome if understated duck! I kept looking trying to see the knob on his beak and it doesn't look all that knobby to me ;>)...... No birds for me this last week, so thank you for sharing yours. (It was too hot for me to go birding.)

    1. That was a day out at Slimbridge, I couldn't get in the hides, loads of people. So, I could get around the place with the capture birds, cheers John.

  18. I'd not heard of this duck before, Bob, but what a cutie she is! Having looked it up on t'interweb, I see it's the drake that has the knob (well it would be, wouldn't it!) and also some splendid colours in his wings.
