I have yet to see a male in breeding plumage - a serious deficiency in a lifetime of birding. The simple truth is that I have never been in the right place at the right time.
I like the ruff very much, and it’s an interesting series...at one point he gets sleepy (or bored posing) and closes his eyes! Only you with your patience and camera skills would catch that! Lovely. It’s funny to see the gulls reflection in the water!
