Hi Bob. Thank you for reminding us just how special a bird the Nene is. It's sad that they're threatened with extinction in the wild. I hope the situation is reversed. With my best wishes - - - Richard
I wonder whether this delightful little goose will ever successfully reestablish itself in the wild. There is a small population in Hawaii but without constant human protection it is doubtful if it is viable.

ReplyDeleteIa this in the wild? Do you have Nene's there?
ReplyDeleteNo, it is not, they were nearly extinction, and the Slimbridge WWT came in time to save them. Tabor, you can read all about them in 'Wikipedia'.
DeleteThat is why I asked. I lived in Hawaii for a short time and was well aware of their almost demise.
DeleteHi Bob.
