I've not used either Bob. I was going to buy a Canon 5D III. Only because of the larger sensor. For you the crop factor on the 7D is an advantage. It also helps with macro. A beautiful Nuthatch whatever you pointed at it.
Le grimpereau des jardin je pense UN superbe oiseau tu sais j'ai pu le découvrir l'année dernière et au départ je pensais voir une souris IL grimper à l'envers il était génial SUPERBES Photos Bravo BOB
Yours is not the first complaint I've heard about this camera. I don't know if you read Gail's blog.. Louisiana Belle but she is frustrated with her 5D Mark II purchase, also.
All your photographs are of excellent quality. These photos of the little Nuthatch are superb. You simply can't take a bad photo no matter what camera you use:)
Hi Bob, i would love to comment on the Canon bodies but afraid i am a Nikonian. I hope one day i can get myself a full frame body and a f/2.8 vr 600mm lens. Maybe then i can take some decent wildlife photos. Your though, i cannot complain about.
Hi Bob, your Nuthatch photos are beautiful! I never see one for long enough to get a decent photo.
I changed from the 450D to the 7D over twelve months ago and have struggled with the 7D ever since. I think it must be what we get used to. Don't forget that the light has been awful for much of this year which doesn't help. I think your photos are as lovely as they have always been though.
Bob, I've no experience with either camera. My daughter has the 5 and a friend has the 7. My daughter is a pro, so she needs the full sensor. To my thinking I'd go with the 7. Which will probably by my next one. At any rate the Nuthatch is stunning! We have one just like it who pops in now and then!
Hi Bob, first the Nuthatch is very nice and how he must be, with the head down :). I do have a 7D which I bought after a 40D. From the first day I'm in struggle with the 7D for bird photography with the 100-400 mm. long-focus. So I'm using the 40d again for telework and bird photography. The 7d I now use for macro- and landscape photography which is working fine. Maybe it is a problem with the combination of some Canon body's with some long-focus lenses.
I am thinking of asking for a 7D for the holidays. I use a Canon Rebel XT which is 4 or 5years old. I have a 300mm with IS because I do not use a tripod as I should So do you think I should ask for a 7D?
They say the sensor is better, but wildlife shooters benefit from the crop factor. Just use both if you can! You're very good, regardless of which body you use
Good to read this today as I am in the market for a new camera after smashing mine dead on Sunday. What would you recommend to someone who takes an equal amount of macro and landscape.Everyone is free to chime in. I will return at the end of the day.
Hello Bob, the pictures of the nuthatch are great, especially the first. I have the Canon 40D and am still happy with it, only the noise at high ISO is not fun, I do not usually shoot higher as with iso 400. Have a nice day, Irma
They're still a super set of images Bob, regardless of which camera you used!...[;o)
