Owls are possibly one of my favourite birds. We have moreporks (a relative, I believe) in New Zealand. Have you see them before, Bob? Or is that a silly question for the Bird Man!
Super images, Bob, of this beautiful owl. I guess that we're looking at a youngster here, but I'm not sure about it being a White-faced Owl (Ptilopsis) - I'd have expected the eyes to be bright orange. I'm wondering if it's a young Otus sagittatus (White-fronted Scops).
I saw my first Scops Owl in Madagascar about three weeks ago and hadn't realised they were relatively small. It's interesting to see this bird and see a different species therefore, so will be interested to know what the final identity decision is!
Stunning images of a beautiful species, not sure what this is though. The eye's remind me funnily of Long Tailed Tits, jet black with a purple'ish eye ring
super mooi je maakt mij wel heel erg jaloers.
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is Bob it has very dark eyes for an owl.
