Sorry, Bob, but I can't agree with you and John. For me, the Pintail is the more handsome of the two - the Smew is the flashier! And both species are prone to frustratingly (for the photographer) long periods of sleeping. ;-} As usual, you have managed to capture superb detail in your shots. We are missing some of our more unudual ducks down here. No ruddy ducks and no canvas backs. Those photos are really warming to the heart.
