Filmed at Robbie Garnett Hide, Slimbridge WWT, Glos, UK. Does anybody know who ringed them?
Please can you sign this petition to stop the proposed M4 over the Gwent Levels. I feel strongly about this because it is a place I visit a lot. The damage to the Gwent Levels along with Magor Marsh and the Newport Wetlands will be irreparable!
Please look at my website bobswildlife.co.uk. There is a photo of a Black-winged Stilt, and the Lesser Whistlinf Duck by Callum in the 'Guest photographer'
Lovely captures Bob of some lovely birds.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos Bob, they are well and truely ringed, with you asking that question, I take it they are not resident there, and if not , where did they come from.

ReplyDeleteI think that they were coming home to Slimbridge, but I am not too sure John.
DeleteHello, Bob! The cranes are beautiful birds. They sure do have a lot of rings on their legs. Wonderful photos. Happy Thursday, enjoy your weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteGrus! Grus! Oh Bob ,thank you
ReplyDeleteFantásticas estas grullas, me han gustado todas las fotos. Un abrazo desde España.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely. I would prefer to see them without the leg irons - but they are beautiful anyway.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the 'leg-irons'are a bit cacky, but is necessary to monitor each. It is because that meanness who would shoot them EC.
DeleteUncommonly striking birds!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised by the number of rings and, as the combinations are different, I wonder what they mean. Beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful birds they are! There certainly are a lot of rings on their legs!
ReplyDeleteYes Liz, there are too many.
DeleteLovely and do like that bit of red there.
ReplyDeleteRed on the head, that rhymes, thanks Margaret.

Hi Jesús, that's so beautiful, thanks.
DeleteThose cranes look beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteI'm no expert but it does seem they have too many rings on their legs ... there must be a reason for it, but I'm not sure what that is.
Have a lovely weekend
All the best Jan
Beautiful captures Bob.
ReplyDeleteCheers Tarja.

ReplyDeleteHugs

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Crissi
Shouldn't be hard to track down their origin.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! I tried signing the petition, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe because I'm in another country?
ReplyDeleteHi Bob. I'd be a lot happier with your super camera-work if those poor birds didn't have such brightly coloured adornments on their legs. I know it's all part of monitoring how well these birds are doing in UK, but I hope that they increase to the point that someone agrees that it's no longer necessary to ring them, so that we can all see them in their natural beauty.
ReplyDeleteWith my best wishes - - - Richard
Hi Richard, yes, it is weird I agree. But, men/women are strange.
DeleteStunning photos of beautiful cranes! They seem to be a nice couple. Red-crowned crane, or Japanese crane looks like them, but the plumage is not slate grey but white. They are thought to be lucky birds.
ReplyDeleteYoko
The Cranes are so beautiful and I love that they are banded and those who care and keep up with them when need be. Have a great weekend~
ReplyDeletePiękne zdjęcia ślicznych ptaków. Lubię tu zaglądać. Nie zawsze mam jednak czas by zostawić komentarz. Tym razem odrabiam zaległości. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
