Hi Bob,Wonderful sighting of the Lapwing, They are building in numbers at Rutland Water but not to your numbers.Always so difficult to capture a decent image when in flight, auto focus has to work overtime.All the best, John
They were thousands in Slimbridge, a beautiful place to stop over the night John.

Yes Maria, they were making a whistling sound. In fact, they were the air whistling already.
