The American bison or simply bison, also commonly known as the American buffalo or simply buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in vast herds.
Hi Bob, What a magnificent beast, they always appear and are I'm sure are very powerful animal, they have such a mighty neck. Super set of images. All the best, John
It is sad to contemplate that this magnificent creature once roamed the Great Plains in countless millions, and it has now been reduced to a domestic animal with a tag in its ear.
Numbers have increased-- I read that there are about 20,000 of them wandering about. Still, it's a tiny percentage of what once was. they are almost a nuisance to some people in Yellowstone National Park. The tongue is an interesting color.
Such a shame that these majestic beasts are all but extinct, Bob. Thank you for another reminder of the destructive capability of the human race. We have much to be ashamed of. Take good care, and have a great week - - - Richard
