  3. That crane is a heap more flexible than I am. If I was to try and get down to those precious eggs I would probably fall and crush them.

    1. Ha ha ha EC, it's good that we don't lay eggs.

  4. Really interesting images, Bob. Not many people get to see the eggs of the Common Crane! - pity about the unnatural adornments from a visual point of view, although I can understand why. Best wishes - - - Richard

  5. Does the crane ever sit on the eggs? The nest seemed ... not a nest ... a few sticks among the rocks. I learned a lot from these pictures!

  7. Cranes rock. I'm struck by the banding. Kind of obtrusive. Jeez.

    Nice shots

  8. Hi Bob,
Another set of super images, wonderful to see the bird turning the eggs, mind they are a good sized egg.
Beautiful bird but not much of a nest builder.
    All the best John

  16. Awesome shots. I, too, am curious about the human jewelry added. I just recently saw a banded bird for the first time.

  17. How marvelous Bob, hope those eggs hatch nicely so you can share the young. There has been a current story on FB about a pair of Sandhill Crane that successfully raised a Peking Duckling from egg being placed in wrong nest. Sweetest story ever ;)

  18. Good luck to Mother Crane! (Perfect post for USA Mother's Day which is today, Sunday the 13th, although I am sure you weren't even thinking of that, since Mothering Sunday in England is on a different date!)...... She is a beautiful crane and certainly well-banded!
