Hawfinch - Coccothraustes coccothraustes

Photographed at Speech House, on the log, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, UK.

It has been about 6 years since I photographed the Hawfinch, at last I done it. This one I think a is female, but I may be wrong.

Please look at my website bobswildlife.co.ukThere is a photo of a Fallow Deer. And a  Pink footed Goose by Dave Key in  the 'Guest photographer.

  3. Hello Bob!:) Stunningly beautiful images, and if it is a female, it's a very colourful female bird, for a change!! I have never seen one here in Portugal.

    1. Thanks Sonja, the Hawfinch is beautiful, and the one I showed you, was it's tail missing, so I think I'll have to go back and try photograph it again. I have heard there are in Spain, so maybe you just missed out.

  21. Hi Bob,
The best images I have seen so far of the Hawfinch, I had some wonderful views of a pair not far from home but only had the bins with me. Since then have seen more a couple of times but never with a clear shot available..
    All the best. John
