Mallard Duck in eclipse

Many years ago we had a pair of domestic ducks in the back yard--- naturally the food and their little pool attracted freeloaders, so we got to know the mallards quite well--- their various communicating movements, and their habits. Watching the males lose their color always seemed a bit sad....
