Just messing about.....................

  1. Hi Bob, I have never been very artistic and carving was a definite no, more a chopper. I was even thrown out of woodwork at school, they decided I was more suited to metalwork, could weld bits back on. Funny enough we have got an evening at our bird club on Friday with exhibits from a champion wood carver, should be interesting. Regards John

    1. I was exactly like you, funnily, I love carpentry now, not that I can do very much. Good luck with wood carver John.

  9. Hello Bob!:) It's a great bit of carving and it had me fooled when I saw it on my dash board. How creative and frog-like it is with the darker patches in the wood. Your messing about, came up with a handsome looking frog, that I would love to have as a decorative piece in my home.

  16. Bob, do you know anything about rings on birds legs by any chance? In Croatia I recently photographed a yellow legged gull with a ring (it's at the top of my blog and the number is clearly visible) but I've searched the internet and I can't find a way to check what the ring number means.

    1. It is the ring for id purposes, it enables you to know where it was and when. Get it from RSPB or anyone who does it.

    2. Bob, Going through RSPB website as suggested I came to BTO.org and found a reporting form which I filled out and sent to a guy in Denmark who co-ordinates ring information. Thanks again.
