Common Pheasant [Phasianus colchicus]

Does it seem like something wrong with its beak?
A large, long-tailed gamebird. Males have rich chestnut, golden-brown and black markings on body and tail, with a dark green head and red face wattling. Females are mottled with paler brown and black. They were introduced to the UK long ago and more recent introductions have brought in a variety of races and breeds for sport shooting.
SAD, VERY SAD.

  2. Yes there is something wrong. It's a genetic mutation caused by inbreeding. The shooters have a similar problem. They are born stupid but run our country or trash it depending what job they were born to do.

  9. It does look a bit weird but obviously does not get in the way and stop it feeding judging by the great condition it in. Super shots Bob.

  10. It is sad that the pheasant's beak is deformed and BAD that shooting animals is still considered a sport. Very, very bad. If you must shoot - use targets. Killing things for fun? Hiss and spit.

    1. Hooray, we love you, you are an angel. Hiss and spit, though I would use somethings more than that. After 2 thousand years, we should be able to stop killing things, so why can't do it??????????

  14. Yep, that sounds about right - gorgeous birds introduced purely for 'sport shooting'. Dear god. I do despair of the human race. I'd like to paint a few targets on their inflated fat foreheads. Bastards. Deep breath ...

  17. A lot of us feel the same about our native duck shooting season in Victoria, but both our major political parties support it! Humanity has a lot to answer for! You certainly had lovely light on this beautiful bird, who does seem to be doing well despite that deformity.

  19. The beak is injured, but it is amazing what birds can adapt to. Hopefully it will work things out.

  21. It does appear to have some kind of deformity and yet it remains just stunning and appears to be very healthy and so it is just something to accept as part of what this beauty is~

  28. Hola Bob.
