Long-tailed Tit [Aegithalos caudatus]

The long-tailed tit is easily recognisable with its distinctive colouring, a tail that is bigger than its body, and undulating flight. Gregarious and noisy residents, long-tailed tits are most usually noticed in small, excitable flocks of about 20 birds. Like most tits, they rove the woods and hedgerows, but are also seen on heaths and commons with suitable bushes. [RSPB]

  4. I never see these till the autumn and winter. I thought they must migrate. Difficult to imagine them going far as they never seem to fly very well.

  19. The Longtailed tit has got to be the sweetest little bird I have ever seen. I do see it way up in the tree tops, but here they are so timid, and never come to the feeders like the other tits. I have long admired it's petit head and long tail, but unfortunately have never succeded in getting a good capture. All yours are fabulous Bob!:) Thanks!
