It was a rainy old day today, so here is my magic bag.......
The Cinnamon teal (Anas cyanoptera) is a species of duck found in western North and South America. It is a small dabbling duck, with bright reddish plumage on the male and duller brown plumage on the female. It lives in marshes and ponds, and feeds mostly on plants.

ReplyDeleteFirst pair of Cinnamon Teals I ever saw was in California many years ago. As I was watching a pair of Northern Harriers separated the female from the male and successfully hunted it down. It led me to wonder whether harriers in that location had adapted to feeding on small ducks. At Cheyenne Bottoms, Kansas I watched them for hours feeding almost exclusively on water snakes that were basking on the rocks (harriers that is not Cinnamon Teals!)
