Chiffchaff [Phylloscopus collybita]

A small olive-brown warbler which actively flits through trees and shrubs, with a distinctive tail-wagging movement. Less bright than the similar willow warbler and readily distinguished by its song, from where it gets its name. Picks insects from trees and also flies out to snap them up in flight.

  3. I had it in my garden last saturday. And of course I did not know it's name but now I do. Thanks so much. I was amazed to see the way it catched the insects out of my roses.
    Thats why I never have te spray my garden with insecticides I think, I have birds in my garden.

  14. I don't see many warblers here, just the pine warbler, and only briefly during spring migration. Your little guy is as cute as a button, and you got some terrific shots!
