Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia)

It is a NASTY day, and here we are threatened by a hurricane. So here we are, the northern American Owl.

  20. I heard on the news of the storm Bob and now he is the crossing to make it to where I live (North-Holland). It blows here like crazy.

  23. An Absolutely gorgeous owl ,Bob, and beautifully captured in your lens. The Burrowing Owl is so like our Little Owls, which also occasionally nest in underground burrows, although this is not normal.

    Pleased to hear that the storm didn't do you any damage. We, also, were lucky, but there are many who've had a really bad time of it.

  26. Bob, what a beauty!! They have a place near here where they raise these owls in captivity and then release them into the wild. It has been quite a successful program.

    1. Great people there. Of course, we can't raise them and let them go, it wouldn't be friendly to them or us.
