Mandarin Duck (male) (Aix galericulata)

One more day and I'm off on holidays, with my bro, Pete. I am truly happy, because he helps me in lots of ways. I couldn't do the things on my own, travelling long way, and organise places that stay, in fact, he is a wizard. Thanks Pete.

  10. So sorry not to have commented lately Bob. I have been having problems with health, broadband and blogging in general :-(

Your photos of the Mandarin Duck are beautiful, they show so much detail. I have still never seen one in my area.

I do hope you and your brother have a wonderful holiday, I'm sure it will be a welcome break after the last few months you have had. I also hope the weather will be much better than it is here!

Bob, I've just been reading the article on your post about the culling of Lesser Black-backed Gulls and I am absolutely horrified. I knew nothing about it so thank you for bringing it to our attention. It is an utter disgrace, I could hardly believe what I was reading. The wealthy seem to hold all the power in this country and have no regard for anything they see as a threat to their money making schemes or their perverted ideas of pleasure. As for Natural England, I thought they were a sympathetic conservation body but only recently they issued licences to cull Buzzards in order to protect Pheasant chicks which will eventually be blasted out of the sky by guns anyway! Sorry about the rant Bob but this sort of thing makes me so angry...and very, very sad.
