There in Scotland, Isle of Mull, was quite a load of Whimbrels, busily drilling for invertebrates, earth worms and small crabs, to mention just a few. It is one of my favourites.
I had a good friend who lived on Curlew Drive back home. I knew a curlew was a bird but never gave it much thought. Now I know what a curlew looks like. Thanks for teaching me something, Bob.
Sometimes I wish we had those here too. I guess the surrounding environment and survival make them look the way they are - especially the beaks. Hope all is well Bob. Anna :)
I can see why they would be a fav, as they are quite cool looking birds and it is always so neat when they just seem to hide in their surroundings so brilliantly~
Congratulations to Lewis for spotting it was a Whimbrel. Most of what we saw, and heard, were Curlews so I wasn't bothering to check them over properly. This makes up for me seeing the Corncrake when you only heard it Bob :-)
