Whimbrel (Isle of Mull, Scotland)

There in Scotland, Isle of Mull, was quite a load of Whimbrels, busily drilling for invertebrates, earth worms and small crabs, to mention just a few. It is one of my favourites.

  6. I had a good friend who lived on Curlew Drive back home. I knew a curlew was a bird but never gave it much thought. Now I know what a curlew looks like. Thanks for teaching me something, Bob.

  8. Bob,
die Fotos sind Dir wieder gut gelungen. Eigentlich ist der Vogel gar nicht so leicht in dieser Umgebung auszumachen.

  11. Sometimes I wish we had those here too. I guess the surrounding environment and survival make them look the way they are - especially the beaks. Hope all is well Bob. Anna :)

  14. I can see why they would be a fav, as they are quite cool looking birds and it is always so neat when they just seem to hide in their surroundings so brilliantly~

  20. Congratulations to Lewis for spotting it was a Whimbrel. Most of what we saw, and heard, were Curlews so I wasn't bothering to check them over properly. This makes up for me seeing the Corncrake when you only heard it Bob :-)
