Jackdaw (Breed anywhere except for South America).

Part of the Corvidae family, it breeds all over the world, except South America, oh, I sympathise to you.

  9. Now here's a co-incidence. Just yesterday I was reading a study from the University of Auckland Department of Psychology which claimed "New Caledonian crows are the most accomplished tool manufacturers in the animal kingdom. They make two distinct types of hook tool and have possibly made cumulative changes to their tool designs over time."
    Our crows Down Under are bigger than yours I think, sleeker and have longer legs. Same eyes.

  13. I didn't know they were called a Jackdaw. We call them "Kouw". Great birds though! And great shots!

  18. Lovely photos of a very underrated bird in my opinion Bob! I think, like the Crow, they have great intelligence.

    Lovely photos of the Scaup on the last post also, I don't think I am ever going to find the pair at Draycote so nice to see yours!
