This male Chaffinch has no deformity.
And this one does have a disease. (Fringilla papillomavirus, Warts). It seems that 1/3 of Chaffinches is likely will end up with it, both sexes. It's a terrible to have that, but, it wont kill them and doesn't restrict their usual galloping around.
the tenderness of the bird moves my heart through my eyes
ReplyDeleteSuperb picture Bob !!
ReplyDeletegreetings, Joop
Just brilliant Bob! He sure will touch everyone's hearts.....I love the second one that he is perched on the very tip of that branch... You sure captured the innocence in his eye.....I enjoy these very much!
ReplyDeleteNicely said Elettra.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joop.
Hi Linda, what you have said really touched me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLovely captures again Bob. It is a nasty disease and I believe they can sometimes lose a digit but as you say it doesn't usually restrict them.
ReplyDeleteSad!
ReplyDeleteHappy a nice weekend, my friend!
Wong
It's not nice but is interesting I will keep a look out for it.
ReplyDeleteYes ShySongbirds, that's right.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend Wong.
Keep your peepers open Adrian.
Such a horrible thing - hope that this precdiction won't be fullfiled! Chaffinches are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday:)
Chaffinch's are lovely birds Bob, especially the colourful males. Much overlooked I think.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots Bob.
ReplyDeleteI see far too many with that awful disease. Such a shame.
Great shots again Bob. Quite an overlooked bird sometimes I think.
