Red Kite (Gloucestershire)

This is my favourite of all birds of prey. They are awesome! They have strengthened their position in the range of distance and breeding places. Let's hope that our children can see them.

Peregrine Falcon (ICBP)

I spent all day at the international centre for the birds of prey, which is a wonderful place to visit. The centre is run by Jemima Parry - Jones and all those who help her in that serious job. Go and have a look, its really nice.

Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker (Cannop Ponds)

It was a mournful day, even a slight wetness in the air. Well, its nice to be young, like our Great Spotted Woodpecker. Oh, I didn't wish you all, a happy solstice, the longest day of the year - for those who live in this hemisphere.

Ringlet (The Marshes, Lydney)

One of my favourites of butterfies. They fly quite a lot, but, when it goes darker, they land. But also, unlike other butterflies, it shows itself in its true colours.

They are notorious at that point, making a noise and with their wide open mouths.

Yes, it was raining. So I put this one up from from yesterday, the Four-spotted Chaser.

Wild Boar and piglets (Forest of Dean)

I've been waiting for this since I came to the Forest of Dean, and now I can relax. It doesn't come out as well as I would like it to, but it was shot at a low shutter speed. It was early in morning and I haven't woke up.

Bumble Bee (Wild Lydney)

This is my first time with a macro, I hope you like it. Thanks to Matt Latham who takes the best film. And, thanks to my brother for his professionalism. I think I'll be a long time trying it out. Here is the Bumble Bee, just about the first.

Buzzard (Boys Grave)

It is a long way, but hell, I shall take it anyway. This one was hovering; funny, that is the movement of the Kestrel, I think its a new trick!

Grey Squirrel (Cannop Ponds)

When it gets a bit cloudy, it is Grey Squirrel time.

Moorhen chicks (The Marshes, Lydney)

They're beautiful. The mixture of black, blue, yellow and red is so vivid. There were about 8 of them, but it was difficult to tell, as they kept on darting in and out of vegetation.

Dipper (Lydney)

This was not a favourite day, the shooting of this bird was terrible. The shutter speed was 45 and was 1600 ISO speed. Still, it's beautiful. It was about this time of year, that I found it right there, but there are two of them. I think they are feeding their chicks. I will have to get a better picture than this. Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long-tailed Tit (Lydney)

This bird is either a youngster or an elder sort. I cannot tell, as it looks alike. I think it is a young bird.

It was about three weeks old. It is still looking out for its parents, probably for more food. As there were 4 of them, it seems like they're very aware that some time they will be on their own.

The Lackey moth (Boys grave)

It was raining this morning and a bit in the afternoon. It will last until about next Thursday. Oh heck.

Green Hairstreak butterfly (Foxes Bridge)

The Green Hairstreak has been one of my first of all time. It was beautiful. I only counted two, but I think that was a misjudgement, as there was a large space.
