Mandarin Ducks head.

I didn’t do too much birding today; instead I spent 5 hours in Gloucester looking at Camera rucksacks. No good there. So I wasted my day, but I made a turn towards Cannop Ponds and snapped this Mandarin Duck.

I saw this one in among the trees in my garden. It seems quite unusual to see one here, its a sight for your eyes.

It was a half rainy day, lovely the rest of it. But, it started to rain every time I got my camera out. The only thing that I caught was this Blackbird in the sunnier period.

There she is, hiding from me. There were 11 of them, 7 male & 4 female. Could be a battle.

You know that it's a lovely day, and you just want to get out and see local birds; well I couldn't do it. Because my life was full today. I was meeting a man, my kids were coming to stay, I had to do the shopping and go to the library, apart from that, I did find an hour to do my favourite thing.

Spring is here.........Beautiful flowers are growing. The chance that I might be totally wrong, but one is Cuckooflowers and the other is a sort of buttercup. There it is, I've nearly always got it wrong!

Who has a foot like this? The winner gets the main prize - a trip around my blog. Boring........

The Magpie, you either love or hate them. They have a bad chattering sound, they pinch the eggs from the tinyest of birds, but they are good looking.

While I was getting around, I noticed a growth on a tree, it has taken me by surprise - I definitely don't know what it is? It seems like a fungi or something. I don't think the tree was dying though. Any offers?

It was a very young Rabbit. It seemed to be lost, but after a minute or two it ran away again. Good luck bunny!

The Khaki Campbells stick together all the time. Here at Mallard Pike, they look quite well, instead of the Farmyard where they were waiting for eggs. I know, because I used to be one, and now it makes me vomit.

This Coal Tit has his back to us, sad, but the colours on its back are quite nice.

I went to Slimbridge WWT today, which is hard to believe me. But I do try and make it once per month. The Eider was there, along with many many more. The Eiders are there to greet us as we go in.

Well, and I thought that I was getting obese. This Reed Bunting really takes the cake.....................

They are back! As many as 100, swooping and diving above the first pool in Harbour Lane, Lydney. Swallows are here a little early, but I don't mind.

Another picture from Slimbridge WWT, it was taken in December 2007, why you may ask, but its raining. This is Blue-winged Teal.

Not a very good picture of the Sparrowhawk, but it was raining, drizzling or something. It is looking for something to help cure the pain in its stomach. Probably a bird, as its great desire.

The Common Tern is a fantastic bird, coming about April and leaving in October. I filmed it about June of last year. The one was wearing a ring on its left leg, but I was too far away to get that in the photograph. It comes to our lake every year, so I’ll keep my eyes open.

This poor Mute Swan was being attacked by the other two who felt that the lake (Lydney), was only any good for them. The cob is so aggressive, that he’s capable to hold onto the neck and it sometimes kills the other. It looks rather nasty, and it is.

On the Herefordshire border is an angling hangout, and there was plenty of birdlife as well. But it was too wet to take any pictures, except this, a bright spell, I managed to take this one, it’s a sculpture of Cormorants, made in metal.

It has been a wet and windy day, last night the wind got up to 75 kmh. And, we weren't the worse. I couldn't get much birding done, so I went into my archives to find the Smew.

The beautiful Kestrel. This one stopped and showed me what she can do, diving for worms and voles. She waited for about 45 minutes and then started to fly off again.

The Herring Gull lives on roof tops, by the sea, factories and dockyards. They rarely settle in towns. They are always diving after scraps, of fish that have been thrown away.

Here is the back view of the Wren, a lovely shot. It can stay in one place for many minutes, whistling for a mate.

The Wood Pigeons are everywhere and you either hate them or love them. But, you got to say, it's quite beautiful.

The Black Swan was taken on a visit to Slimbridge WWT, which is why they will never be on our lakes and rivers. They come from Australia. They are like ours, only black instead of white.

The Song Thrush is the most tuneful of all the birds in this country. This year, I’m afraid; they don’t seem to be so many. I hope that they are in next year crop!

More of Spring. The droopy side.

A Blackthorn tree, at least I think it is. It makes you feel its spring time again; but it’s March 2nd. Things are strangely not in tune. Nor me…………………

I pictured the Great Tit at Cannop Ponds, it is so beautiful. I have nothing left to say.
